Book Blogger Hop - August 3 - August 9

Book Blogger Hop

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:

When a book goes “viral” (Hunger Games, Fifty Shades, Twilight), do you rush out to read it like everyone else, even if it’s not in your typical genre?

MY ANSWER:

Not really....if I don't like the genre, I definitely won't even consider buying the book.  Why waste my precious reading time.  :)

I am not and have never been one to jump on the band wagon. :)

  1. I don't usually rush out and get a book unless it's highly recommended by a friend. I probably would never have read Hunger Games as I usually don't drift far away from mysteries, except my son liked it and passed it on to me.

  2. If it is a genre I have no interest in absolutely not, I don't even read those reviews truthfully.

If it is a genre that has piqued my interest I will probably choose the hyped book.

  3. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Generally I am put off by the hype, but if lots of people whose opinions I trust rave about a book or series, then I'll give it a go. (The Hunger Games and Song of Ice and Fire are examples of these.) I had too many people tell me I ought to read them.

  4. Great answer! If it's something I know I won't like, why read it? And if I'm not sure... Library!

  5. Love your answer :) I'm the same, I won't waste time on a book just because of hype

  6. Perfectly stated :)

I tend to avoid hyped up books until the hype is over if it's a book that interests me. If its not a book that interests me I won't read it at all. Life's too short to read books just because everyone else is. You have to read what interests you.
