Book Blogger Hop - 11/23 - 11/29

The sound of silence: When reading, do you assign each character their own voice in your head, or do they all sound the same? Do they sound like you or someone else?

I never really thought of assigning a voice to my characters, but I do visualize each character.

This must mean I am more of an artist than a musician. :)

I simply enjoy my books with as little distraction as I can possibly manage.

Have a fun hop!!

Hope everyone had a great THANKSGIVING.

  1. A fun question! I don't think I give people voices, either. I just have a vague picture in my head. Same as you.

  2. Happy Friday!!

    Yes....a fun question.

  3. I'm the same way - I picture them but don't give them voices.

  4. I'm the same, I just read, and enjoy the storyline.

  5. Some characters I visualize and some I don't. It's interesting how differently people can experience books.

  6. THANKS for stopping by everyone. Interesting to see the answers.

Giving voices makes it more like work than reading pleasure. :)

  7. I do that too! A little of both honestly :). Hopping on by and I'm a new follower!

  8. Great answer to a difficult question!

I'm now following your blog :)

    Here's my answer.

  9. That is interesting. Since I am a musician, a singer, actually, I do tend to assign voices to the characters :)

  10. Haha, does that mean I'm more of a musician? I don't intend to give them voices, they just sound like that as I read them, you know?
The story also translates into images inside my head, fragrances or such I can almost feel too, also as auto-pilot. It's an all-senses experience if it's written that way, and I love it best when it is :D

    Have a great weekend!

(Yes, I still wanna live in one of those houses in your header. :D)

  11. The houses are cute, but it is pretty cold in Portree. It was July when we visited, and it was about 35°F. BRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

But it is an adorable place. Beautiful landscapes very nice people.

  12. I added you to my blogroll as well.

  13. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

As little distraction when reading is always a good thing. I remember when reading Twilight i built up the character of Edward and then the movie came out - was slightly disappointed! But hey!

  14. Hmm. Never really thought about it. I don't think I assign voices to the characters but I do picture they way I think they look.

  15. I usually hear their voices and see them as if in a movie in my head. It can be disconcerting when the author gives further description in later chapters and it doesn't match up to what I've been thinking. :)

  17. That's a well thought out answer! Great stuff. :D

Thanks for stopping by my post earlier. :D

Sorry about my previous comment! I forgot to close my link! ;)

  18. Great question. I always picture characters but I don't really give them a voice. I haven't ever thought about it, actually!
