Teaser Tuesday - 12/11/12

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teaser is from LIVE BY NIGHT by Dennis Lehane.

 Page 139:

"His father was gone.  He was no longer a son."

"He felt like a pilgrim who'd pushed off from the shore of a homeland he'd never see again, crossed a black sea under a a black sky, and landed in the new world, which waited, unformed, as if it had always been waiting."

  1. This is from when Joe Coughlin was in prison for one of his many bad deeds.

The book is engaging, but not as good as his other books.

  8. I like Lehane's books, but haven't read a lot of them. Is this one a stand alone or part of that series of his?

  12. I've actually had this book for a few months (I won it in a giveaway on GoodReads) and I started it twice but haven't been able to really get into it. I'm looking forward to your full review, maybe it will inspire me to pick it up again and finish it.
