My Purple Smoke has finally grown after 20 years.  :)

It has been only about two feet tall for all these years, and it "grew up" this year.

Perhaps from all the snow and all the rain we have had???

In answer to the question, do they always take that long to grow.

No...after 20 years, it should be about 15 feet high.  My soil just must be bad.  I am so excited it it finally "growing up."  :)

I love the fluffy branches...that is why it is called smoke.

Looking forward to everyone's photos this week.

  8. Not really, Laura. LOL!!!

Not sure why it took so long to grow, but probably because I have bad soil.

  9. I've never seen a plant like that. It must not grow well in the hot places (like where I live, along the Texas Gulf Coast). Thanks for sharing it with us.

  12. I love those! They are beautiful. I wanted to put one in front of my house but I read they grow 15+ feet and I want something closer to 8 feet. Maybe they are just slow growers... in which case I could probably keep it pruned.

  14. Smoke bushes are one of my favourite plants. I had a beauty in my old house. I think they do appreciate a nice cold winter to smoke well in the warmer weather.

  16. I don't think I've ever seen this bush but it's so interesting. Actually I love the colors in these photos. The bush and then the evergreen in the background and the green of the grass, all very subtle, but beautiful! Thanks for sharing it, Elizabeth!
