Book Blogger Hop - 3/6 - 3/12

 Question of the Week:
Do you think a book's title is important?

My Answer:

I do have to say YES to this question.

A title as well as a cover pull me in, but on the other hand the book could have a fantastic title and cover and have bad content.  That usually does not happen too often, but I have experienced that.

  1. A book title is important. Some, like "The Icarus Deception", end up needing a clarifying subtitle or people are going to think this is a spy novel. Others like Balzac's "Woman of thirty" are so good, they need nothing at all.

    1. Terrific examples, Cathy, for why titles are important.

  2. Titles are definitely important as are covers. When shopping at a store, I usually feel attracted to titles, which makes me read the back cover to know more. Titles and covers, however, don't influence my shopping experience; it is ultimately the premise that wins me over.

    1. Great comments, Carmen.

I get pulled in by covers and titles, but the inside is what counts.

      Thanks for stopping, Carmen.

  3. A good cover or title will make me stop and read the blurb but it's the blurb that really sells the book!

    1. Exactly!!

I totally agree. They pull me in, but the inside has to be good for me to read it.

  4. A title definitely has to be good. Titles are what I use to talk about books and when they're beautiful, like 'Wuthering Heights' I will be constantly mentioning it. If a title is bad though I cringe every time I have to mention it! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have an amazing weekend!

    1. That would be awful to have to keep saying the words of a bad title.

Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping, Juli.

  5. I love a great title and it kinda matters to me just like the cover. I need to be grabbed somehow by the title.

    1. Definitely need a good title and a cover.

Covers are more of a determining factor than the title for me, though. I am very visual.

  6. I agree. It's often the combination of title and cover that really catches my attention.

  8. Glad we agree.

I do place a higher value on the title than the actual cover but I'd be lying if those Penguin or Vintage publications didn't have brilliant cover-art that hypnotized me into purchasing certain books.

  9. A great cover and title and disappointing plot would be a huge let down. I can't think of a time that has happened to me yet. I only pray it never does! Great point and thanks for stopping by my blog!

    1. It definitely would be a very big let down.

It never happened to me either, but it is a possibility. :) A slim one I am sure.
