Book Blogger Hop - 7/10 - 7/16

 Question of the Week:

If you are in a book club, where do you meet? A restaurant, someone's home, the library? If you aren't in a book club, why not?

My Answer:

Oh yes....I am in two book clubs.

I used to be in four, but it got too much with having to read so many books as well as read books for my blog.

My main book club meets at local restaurants once a month. My secondary book club meets at the library once a month.

It is sad when folks can't find a local book club to join.

I hope those of you who are reading my post are in a book club and enjoy the company of each other and the books you read and discuss together.

  1. I love my book club. Have been in more than one at a time, but that was mostly when it was part of my job at the library to moderate them. Reading for one club is enough for me right now.

    1. My second book club is a bit different from my regular one. We just discuss what books we read for the month. We don't have an assigned book. :) So TWO is easy for me.

      Thanks for stopping, Kay.

    1. Very nice.

We never tried homes, but I may mention it.

      Thanks for stopping, Kathy.

  3. I've never met in a restaurant for a book club meeting. Most restaurants around here have their music so loud (which I can't stand) we probably couldn't hear each other.

    1. We are lucky that when we have our book club meetings, we have a separate room.

The music is so loud in some places.

      Thanks for stopping, Vicki.

  4. I was in one that met at a coffee shop and I really liked that one. I'm hoping to try some of the ones at my library in the next few years. There's very few things I like better than talking about books!

    1. Oh yeah....talking about books is the best. :)

I hope you can find one at your library.

  5. I am also in two book clubs, both of them are closed or semi closed groups. One is made of gals who taught together at the same high school. Currently two of the nine gals are still at that school but that is the requirement for membership. The other group, which has been going for 20 years this year, is a church group. One doesn't have to be a church member to attend but that is how it works out. Both groups meet at homes that shift from month to month. The hostess is in charge of providing a dessert and one person is assigned to lead the discussion.

    1. Both of your groups sound nice.

I belonged to a book club from work....all teachers too. :) Now that I am retired, I feel out of the loop and don't attend.

Thanks for stopping and for your comment, Anne. I like the dessert idea. :)

  6. Elizabeth. I couldn't get the linky to pen this morning. Is there something wrong with it or me?

  8. Hi - I'm not in any book clubs. Honestly don't think I could find the time right now.

  9. My book club is a group of ladies from church. We meet in the choir room once a month after women's prayer time. I usually bring yogurt parfaits. I am thinking of joining a book club at our local library too. I understand they have two.
