Book Blogger Hop - 3/17 - 3/23

Question of the Week:

How many book clubs do you belong to? If you do belong to an in-person book club, do you have meetings in the day or evening? Do you meet at someone's house or meet at a local restaurant or coffee house?  (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

My Answer:

I belonged to four book clubs at one time.  I now belong to two.

No on-line book clubs, but I do visit a couple on Facebook just to see what the groups are reading.

When I was working, we would meet after work - early evening -  at local restaurants, but the one at work has fizzled for all members not just for me because I retired.  :)

I also was in a church book club group, but my schedule interfered with that group.   Super nice women in the club.  We would meet in the church hall in the evening and bring a dessert or treat that matched with the book.

I currently belong to a library book club which meets once a month in the library in the evening. We do not read the same book.  We bring in a list of books we have read for the month and share the titles and our thoughts on the books.

I also currently belong to a local book club with eleven women.  We choose a book each month and discuss it at a local restaurant during the day.  I have been in this book club the longest.

  2. I see my question doesn't match with the one for this week.

Not sure how that happened, but going to leave it.

    Thanks for stopping.

  4. One book club for me. We meet in the evenings, mostly in someone's home.

  5. I do love the question you have post on your blog for blog hop, but unfortunately for me I don't have any in person books club near where I live at so I can go too. And I would love too so go to an in person book club, but I did join a couple book clubs online though an there are very fun online groups.

  7. That's a lot of book clubs. I'm not in any because of the cost and logistics. To buy books in Australia is expensive, but if I order them from TBD and they take two weeks to arrive, I then don't have time to read them before the deadline.

    1. I am down to TWO, but the one doesn't have a book to read. We just tell what we have read. It is manageable.

I don't buy the books...I use the library or OverDrive. :)

That's sad they take so long to get to you.

      Thanks for stopping, Nicki.

  8. I envy you your book clubs! I tried a local one once, but it did not work out. Mostly, my problem is scheduling. With my work schedule and family responsibilities, the local meetings are never at a convenient time for me. And so I settle for my Postal Mail Group and my online book groups.

I hope you have a great week, Elizabeth!

  9. I've never been part of a book club. When I graduated from college, I wanted to join a book club, and I did...I just never went. The times were always a conflict and I was new to a HUGE city, so it was daunting.

  10. Don't feel bad that you answered the wrong question. It happens, lol.

You are SO lucky to be able to go to an actual, in-person book club!! Somehow, online book clubs just aren't the same. It's so nice to have personal contact with other book lovers!

There are some book clubs in my area, but they meet on days that I'm working.... :( Those that do meet on Saturdays, though, are a bit far away from me. Besides, the genres they read are not exactly up my alley. Lol.

I think I would have a tough time finding a book club where I would feel comfortable, because I'm such an eclectic reader! I enjoy several genres, but it seems that most of the book clubs I've checked out in my area read genres that I'm not into, like thrillers and mysteries. I'm into fantasy, SF, paranormal romance, urban fantasy, classics, literary fiction, spirituality, and nonfiction. In fact, I read quite a lot of nonfiction!

Oh, well.... Enjoy your book clubs, you LUCKY thing, you!! :)

Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting on my own BBH post!! Hope you're having a lovely Sunday!! <3 <3 :) :)

    1. Nonfiction is a difficult genre for book clubs. :)

I think you do beautifully without a book club, Maria.
