Book Blogger Hop - 3/3 - 3/9

Question of the Week:

When you start reading a novel, do you prefer to be plunged right into the action, or do you prefer a slower, more descriptive introduction to the plot and characters? (submitted by Maria @ A Night's Dream of Books)

My Answer:

I like to plunge right in, get to the plot, and get to know the personalities of the main characters. :)

  2. I agree that being plunged right into the action can be immediately riveting. However, I sometimes prefer the more leisurely narrative style. It all depends on my mood. For me, both styles can be equally rewarding.

    Thanks for sharing,Elizabeth! Have a WONDERFUL weekend!! <3 :)

  3. I don't have to be plunged in but I do have to be interested right away or I'm probably not going to keep going!

  6. The key for me is instant interest in the characters and story being told, but that doesn't mean I need to be hit in the face with action to start off. It could, of course. Or it could mean a slower start, where I can take my time getting to know everyone and the world I've entered.

I admit I am not an absolutist about anything, including what my preferences are for books. I tend to be more situational. It depends on the book and my mood.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Elizabeth. Have a great week!

  7. I can take it both ways. I don't mind plunging right in or slowly wading my way through as long as the water is the right temperature and the day is nice. In other words, it totally depends on the content and how the author writes!
