My Book  Beginnings is taken from BOARDWALK SUMMER by Meredith Jaeger:

"My heart hammered as I stood on the bandstand, in front of the swelling crowd  Cripes,  how many people had gathered on the beach today?  Possibly thousands.  The sun beat down on my tanned shoulders, warming them."

I am really enjoying this nostalgic book.  It is set in 1940 and then moves to 2007.
