Book Blogger Hop - 4/6 - 4/12

Question of the Week:

Do you overextend yourself with too many reviews because you can't pass up a book in hopes you will get them all done or do you carefully plan and be sure you can fulfill the deadlines for all the promised reviews? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)

My Answer:

I carefully plan and meet the deadlines.  I actually am always ahead of schedule.

I have turned down a few books because one month was a bit more busy with reviews, but that is rare.

I also am particular about what books I choose to read and review.

I have an online calendar that I use for easy reference and color code the read and unread books.

  1. Yeah I tend to be particular about accepting books for review. I know I've sent my email to different places and it's posted on my blog so I do get requests from books that are straight up not my genre (which is listed in review policy) so I tend to just ignore those requests since they didn't bother to read said policy. But I feel like I've kept myself on a decent schedule!

    1. I get some odd requests too.

I do reply to all requests, though.

  3. I'm learning to be more particular! I don't think I've ever been behind when I've committed to a specific date, but I've certainly felt overwhelmed by my commitments. That's why I try to keep my commitments low and leave room for 'free range' reading.

    1. I make sure I leave room too not only for free range reading but to make sure I don't miss the deadlines.

  4. It's great that you're so organised. I'm more like that now, I only sign up to review books I actually have time for. I used to be really behind and stressed about it.

  7. The calendar sounds like a great tool. Like you, I won't take on books if I am too busy. I also only accept books that particularly appeal to me; I don't just say yes to everything.

  8. That's awesome that you seem so organized! I am hoping sometime this year I can maybe try getting a book off Netgalley and see if I like it! I haven't used it before. Awesome answer Elizabeth and thanks for the question! Have a great weekend!

  10. It's definitely a good idea to carefully plan ahead and have a schedule so you don't get overwhelmed with too many requests. It's also nice to know that you're somewhat going to be able to follow your own pace without racing through the books. I really like the colour coding idea, I might try that too!

    1. Oh yes...I like the color coding.

It makes it so much easier to take a quick glance to see what’s going on.

I like this calendar as I mentioned because the blocks are large and easy to see. :)

  11. I am in total awe of people who can plan their reading and stick to their schedule and also who can actually say no to books because they just don't have time to read them. I want to be like you when I grow up.

Have a great weekend. - Katie
