My Book Beginnings is taken from THE LIES WE TOLD by Camilla Way:

"At first I mistook the severed head for something else.  It wasn't until I was very close that I realized it was Lucy's.  To begin with, I thought the splash of yellow against the white of my pillow was a discarded sock, a balled-up handkerchief perhaps."

  5. A severed head in your bed - creepy! But a great way to start a novel. See what book MK is featuring at Girl Who Reads

    1. It is creepy, and the main character is definitely creepy, but the book is VERY good.

  6. That is a serious beginning! Doesn't sound the head is human but any severed head on a pillow is always a bad thing!

    1. Yes...it isn't pleasant.

The book is really good despite this beginning.
