My Book Beginnings is taken from THE PROMISE OF PROVENCE by Patricia Sands:

"Stepping out the front door into a wash of cool autumn air, Katherine closed her eyes and inhaled its crispness.

It doesn't get much better than this, she thought, walking briskly through the leafy neighborhood.  Little did she know how this day would end."

  2. I love the 'book beginning' and now wonder how the day will end! Off to check it out on Goodreads.

    1. It is very good...I am about 15% in.

      Thanks for commenting, Mary.

  3. I really like the first line, but somehow the cover looks more like spring than fall to me?

    1. It is set in Provençal probably is depicting the gardens and the lovely house the character is staying in. That would be my guess. :)
