Book Blogger Hop - 1/22 - 1/28

 Question of the Week:

Can you recall a time in your life when you were not reading?

My Answer:

For the most part, I can say I have always been a reader.

The only time I may not have read as much is after my son was born.  I read to him more than I read for myself.

  1. I always remember reading too. I come from a family of readers, though, so I thought everyone read until I got married.

    1. LOL....I hear you.

When I got married I found out some people don't read. :)

  2. I've been reading so long that I don't recall not being able to read. My mother taught me to sound out words and I think I was reading to myself by the age of 4. She still read to me, but I went my own way too. She herself was not a 'reading for pleasure' person - no one in my family was. I was the odd man out.

    1. Sounds wonderful to be reading by the age of 4.

My sisters are the only readers in our family. Brothers are not readers. Mom and dad read to us, but didn't read themselves.

      Thanks for stopping, Kay.

  3. I wasn't as much of a reader before I retired. Put many hours in the job and little time left to read. :)

  4. Hi, Elizabeth!!

I'm back to participating in the Book Blogger Hope! I never should have left!

Oh, it's wonderful that you immediately started reading to your children while they were still very young! When parents read to their children, they are training them in a very rewarding lifetime habit. KUDOS to you!!

Sadly, I don't have any kids....I would have loved to read to them!

Have a fantastic weekend, full of great reading!

  5. The time I can remember I didn't read was when my kids where younger, with 4 under the age of 5 I never had time to read. I may have picked up a book once in awhile, but nothing like I read now.

    1. Same here....no time, and I only had one. :)

It was worth it, though. Reading to him was all worthwhile.

      Thanks for stopping, Melissa.

  7. Probably when I was a new mum and I only read certain authors whose books I had to wait for to come out. That is why I joined Goodreads, to be inspired by what friends were reading. And What a great choice that was.

  8. To be honest no although I certainly read every opportunity I get now. As a teenager I only read at bed time.

  9. It's so sweet to hear that you're teaching your child to read when you don't have time to read one for yourself. :) I hope he'll grow to love reading books when he grows up!
