My book beginnings is taken from BLACK RABBIT HALL by Eve Chase:
"I feel safe on the cliff ledge, safer than in the house, anyway. A few feet from the coast path, it's a twenty-minute scramble from the edge of the estate, far enough from Black Rabbit Hall's watching windows, a secret place."
Love the beginning of Black Rabbit Hall. Would read on for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty good.

The opening sentence of Black Rabbit Hall makes me wonder what about it makes the character feel safer on a cliff than by the hall's "watching windows." Intriguing.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post features WATERCOLORS IN THE RAIN.
That is a bit unsettling.
