Question of the Week:
How much of your day is devoted to your blog, and how much is devoted to reading?
My Answer:
I devote more time to my blog each day than to reading.
I am obsessed with everything being perfect on my blog, with replying to every comment made on my blog, and with visiting EVERY blog in the linky list on memes I participate in.
Sooooo.....doing all of that on my blog takes up most of my time every day.
My reading is mostly done in the evening.
If I have to give a percentage, I am going to say 75% to my blog and 25% to reading.
I do surprise myself with the number of books I read because I am a slow reader as well as not having that much of daily reading time.
I am out of town until Monday. I will try to visit then.
Happy Easter everyone.

Wow. See I want that perfection and time for my site but my available time is split more 60/40...reading vs blogging that is. I'm trying to add more commenting time back in but it's slower going. One blog at a time. ☺
ReplyDeleteExactly....you have to do what you can.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Gina.
I often spend more time reading about books and reading and commenting on blogs than I do actually reading. Which is a bit backwards or so I keep telling myself. Partly why I take breaks from blogging now and then.
ReplyDeleteThe commenting is fun and does take a lot of time, but I enjoy it.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Kay.
Isn't it funny how blogging about reading takes so much time away from reading?
ReplyDeleteThat is a funny point. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Kathy.
I agree with Kathy...blogging about reading takes time away from reading. LOL But I love your blog, so glad you spend so much time on it. AND you do seem to get a LOT of books read!
ReplyDeleteWhy thanks, Debbie. So sweet of you to say you enjoy visiting my blog. :)
DeleteAnd....I surprisingly do get a lot done.
Thanks for stopping, Debbie.
I definitely spend more time blogging than reading and it always seems like there's so much to be done that I never get to the bottom of the list!
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see someone else blogs more than they read too. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Katherine.
I'm more of a reader. Your blog is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, Heather.
DeleteSo sweet of you to say so.
Thanks for stopping.
I tend to read more than I spend time working on my blog and I need to get it closer to a 50/50 balance I think. I need to make my blog part of my daily routine instead of feeling like I have to rush to get things fixed during bloggiesta and the like!

I try to balance mine more evenly too, but I do seem to get everything done so I guess I may not need to.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Lisa.
You crack me. Someone as compulsive with their blog like me. I do read a lot though. I read really fast thus why I write reviews to slow me down.

Oh yes on compulsive...it is just me.
DeleteGlad we are alike. :)
Thanks for stopping, Teri.
Oh, Elizabeth! You sound just like me!! I, too, am a perfectionist, and want to make sure that I present everything on my blog in the BEST possible manner.
ReplyDeleteI also think that replying to comments left on my posts is very important, and very much a part of blogging. As you know, I not only reply to comments on my blog, but also go and comment back on the commenters' blogs.
Also like you, I read mostly at night, when everything's quiet and hubby is fast asleep. But I really need to do more reading....And I happen to be a slow reader, also like you!
Thanks for sharing! Hope you're enjoying your trip! Happy Easter!! :)
We are having a lovely time in Vancouver...beautiful place.
DeleteWe do sound similar with our blogging and reading habits. :)
Thanks for stopping, Maria.
I am not sure which I do more. I think it varies depending on what's going on at any given moment. I do try to read every day, whether during my short lunch break at work during the week or before bed if I am awake enough.I blog when I can, sometimes quick sessions at the computer (like now), but more so on Fridays while my daughter is in school and I'm off work.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good system.
DeleteAs long as you get done what you want, any method is good.

Right now I'm behind on everything. Had my son and family in last week, and still trying to just survive going through the emails. :)

The e-mails and comments definitely pile up when you are away from the computer for a few days.
DeleteI know how that feels.
Thanks for stopping, Diane, and I hope you had a lovely visit with your son and his family.
I should spend more time trying to make my blog perfect but I just can't bear spending the time I need to on the computer to do that because I stare at a screen all day for work. I can write reviews on the iPad which is much preferred.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is nice, Emma.
DeleteWe are all different, and whatever works for you is the best way to go. :)
Thanks for stopping, Emma.
