Question of the Week:
Do you read and review books mainly for publishers or authors?
My Answer:
I used to read equally from both publishers and authors, but now I read more for publishers.
I run more giveaways for authors than I used to, but I do have giveaways for publishers when I am unable to read and review a book because of a time constraint.
I rarely take books from authors anymore. It's harder for me to be objective when I do.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult for sure.

I review a mixed bag -- many reviews are done for book tour organizations while a few are for authors and/or publishers.

A mix is good.
DeleteI like the tours too.
Thanks for stopping, Diane.
I have a mix of author/publisher requested reviews (either they ask me or I get them through Netgalley) and regular books I would get from the library or store. I'm pretty happy with 50/50. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by earlier!
Sounds like a great plan, and being happy is the best part.

I have seen the giveaways and things around on twitter - seems like a fun way to interact! :)
ReplyDeleteInteracting is always fun when it involves books. :)

Sounds good, Elizabeth! Authors, especially Indie authors, need the exposure, since they don't have access to the massive marketing campaigns that big book publishers engage in.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly doing book tours, but I've cut down a bit on those. I want to get back to reading books that I choose myself, with no worries about review deadlines! Lol. On the other hand, I still want help out Indie authors.
Thanks so much for dropping by and commenting on my own BBH post!! <3 :)
I have cut back on a lot too.
DeleteI only choose books I KNOW I will love. I sometimes make mistakes, though. :)
Thanks so much for stopping, Maria.
Great answer! I also read and review for both authors/publishers but review more for authors. Thank you for stopping by my Blog Hop.
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful that you do more for authors.

Most of my books I get from publishers or publicists, but occasionally I get a review request from an author directly, especially an indie author. Those can be fun, and I love helping indie authors when I can.
ReplyDeleteI usually do not get requests from Indie authors. Not sure why.
