Book Blogger Hop - 4/8 - 4/14

 Question of the Week:

What other interests do you have besides reading and blogging?
My Answer:

I enjoy baking, cooking, and gardening.

My baking specialties are sweet breads, Italian bread, and cookies.

My nieces and nephews LOVE my Hershey Kiss Cookies.  I make an amazing banana bread that is super moist.

My dinner specialties are Eggplant Parmesan and Chicken Marsala.

I LOVE my herb garden and fill it with basil for my homemade sauce.  I grow enough basil to last me through the summer and the winter. I wash and freeze it after I pick it off the plant.

I am happy to share any of my recipes.  :)

  2. I like to bake but don't do much of it these days because we never finish all of the baked goodies. I never mastered baking with yeast though.

  4. I love to bake though I haven't been doing it as much since the kids have started leaving home because I find I eat too much of it on my own! I need to start getting ready to plan my garden! I love my herbs and nothing is better than a fresh grown tomato!

    1. I give a lot of my baked goods away. :)

I love my herbs. I actually can't grow tomatoes. They never take. :(

I do get some from family members.

  6. I'd love to have your recipe for banana bread. That sounds delish! I'm hungry now! I wish I could garden, but I kill everything. I haven't tried herbs though, just flowers and bushes, so maybe I'll give it a try. I still have some hope left, lol. Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a great weekend!

  8. Oh, Elizabeth, my mouth is watering, just from reading your post!! Lol. Those sure sound like AWESOME eats!! Your house must be a VERY popular site around the holidays!! :)

I've tried my hand at cooking myself, but never baking. And the cooking I've done has always been from recipes in books or magaznines. I'm not the type of naturally-talented cook who can improvise without following a recipe.

Gardening is a very relaxing, even spiritual hobby. I'm sure you have a green thumb! I sure don't....plants tend to wither and die in my care... :( We live in a condo, though, so we don't have a garden. Fortunately, there's beautiful landscaping all around us, which we greatly enjoy looking at and taking pictures of!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my BBH post!! :)

  10. I love to bake, too, but do more cooking now and less baking. I love having fresh veggies and beautiful flowers, but can't say I really love gardening. I leave most of the gardening work to my husband now, even "my" herb garden!

  11. Oh, there's life after reading and blogging? :) I enjoy the friends we've made since we moved here to SC. But most of all, I enjoy when we can go back to VA and see our family.
