Question of the Week:
When you set a yearly reading goal, do you set it high to force yourself
to meet that goal or do you keep it low and normally go over that goal
any way?
My Answer:
I do not like to stress myself with challenges so I set my goal at a reasonable level but normally go over my goal by a few books.
I don't set a goal at all.
ReplyDeleteI do the Goodreads Challenge.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Kathy..
I used to but no longer doing it...
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit stressful, but I set mine low and like doing it on Goodreads just to keep track.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Kaori.
I should take a lesson from you and not stress about challenges. I just shouldn't do any! But I do the Reading goal. I like that one.
ReplyDeleteOH...challenges to me are too stressful.
DeleteLike you, though, I enjoy the Goodreads Challenge.
Thanks for stopping, Debbie.
Hi Elizabeth! I also set a goal and it is also always more than manageable. It actually is a math equation... You can read about it on http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/09/friday-meets-09-september-2011.html Hope you will have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. Will look at your math equation. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Mareli.
That is a good idea, I would think if the goal was too high it would take the joy out of reading.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely would take the joy out of reading.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Ellen.
I absolutely agree, Elizabeth! Reading is a passionate, very enjoyable activity for us bookworms, and should therefore not have ANY stress associated with it. As you know from my own post, I never set yearly reading goals, as I know I won't be able to meet them. Lol.
ReplyDeleteAs for reading challenges, I'm currently participating in the 2016 TBR Reading Challenge, run by Evie @ Bookish Lifestyle, but am far behind....I only set a goal of reading eleven books this year, and have gotten only four read....So I think I'll be dropping out. Lol.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting!! Have a WONDERFUL weekend, and Happy Hopping to you, as well!! :)
That's why I only do challenges that I know I can meet and have no stress.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Maria.
I am not big on setting numeric goals, although I have done the Goodreads one the last three years. I generally set my goal low. It's more important to me that I enjoy my reading and can read at my own pace.
ReplyDeleteExactly...no sense stressing out about trying to reach a goal.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Literary Feline.
I usually set a low goal for myself that way I can read at my own pace and feel good when I go over it.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Shandy Jo.
I'm all for reasonable goals...makes life much less stressful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeleteEnough stress in our lives. Something pleasurable need not be stressful.
Thanks for stopping, Emma.
I might start lowing my reading goal as well because I absolute agree with you about setting low reading goal for not stressing about meting your reading goal challenge. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog hop.
