Question of the Week:
How many book clubs do you belong to? If you do belong to an in-person book club, do you have meetings in the day or evening? Do you meet at someone's house or meet at a local restaurant or coffee house? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver's Reviews)
I am out of town...I will try to visit.
My Answer:
I belonged to four book clubs at one time. I now belong to one.
No on-line book clubs.
When I was working, we would meet after work - early evening - at local restaurants, but the one at work has fizzled for all members not just for me. :)
I also was in a church book club group, but my schedule interfered with that group. Super nice women in the club. We would meet in the church hall in the evening and bring a dessert or treat that matched with the book.
I also was in a local book club with eleven women that would meet at a local restaurant during the day. We would choose a book each month and discuss it. I had been in this book club the longest.

I currently
belong to only one book club. It is a library book club which meets once a month at the library
in the evening. We do not read the same book. We bring in a list of
books we have read for the month and share the titles and our thoughts
on the books.
Oh wow! That's a lot to juggle at once! Though I like the idea of the last one! That one would allow me to read what I want to at least! Lol!

Yes...that is why I like the library one.
DeleteI can read what I want, and everyone is accepting and non-critical about what you read or your comments.

Oh wow!! That's a lot of groups! I love the idea of meeting at the local library :)

Yes...it is very nice to meet in the library.
DeleteWe can pick up books or find more to read while we are there. :)

I belonged to an online book club - we would meet on Skype but it fizzled out quickly. Now, I belong to a neighborhood book club.
ReplyDeleteThat might be difficult with an online book club, but it sounds like it was fun.

I have one in-person book club that I've been part of since 2010. I drop in and out of various online book clubs; nothing formalized.
ReplyDeleteI like the concept of your library book club, where you share what you've read. Wish we had something like that here!
The library one is nice.
DeleteMaybe you could check with your local library library and suggest it?

That last one sounds really nice.
ReplyDeleteIt is very nice. No stress.

I like the idea of not having to read a specific book and just bringing a list of books read to discuss... that way everyone can read to their own preferences but still talk about books.
ReplyDeleteIt is very pleasant to just discuss what you have read and to get new ideas for other books.

Meeting at a library is a cool idea! I am not too social or good with big groups but if there was a library hosted book club I'd probably consider it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
