Wondress Words Wednesday - 12/6/2017

http://bermudaonion.wordpress.com

I usually do not post unfamiliar words I find in books, but this word just stood out.

The spelling caught my eye so I decided to share.

The word:  UXORIOUS

The meaning is:  having or showing an excessive or submissive fondness for one's wife.

A bit of an odd word don't you think?

I found this unusual word in a book that I am LOVING.  DANGEROUS CROSSING by Rachel Rhys.

The word was found on Page 259 in this sentence:  "There's nothing more attractive to a certain type of woman than an uxorious man."

I don't agree with that sentence, do you?

  1. Nice word Elizabeth, although not one I would like to associate with, or have associated with me.

It almost sounds on a par with obsessive or possessive, a wee bit on the spooky scale!!

Thanks for sharing. I haven't taken part in this meme for ages and I do have a list of suitable words, so I really must make the effort :)

    1. I agree...not a word I would want to associate with or have associated with me.

      A very unpleasant word.

  2. What an interesting word! I do think there are some women who would find a man like that attractive but I'm not one of them.

  5. Elizabeth,
Thanks for sharing this wondrous word from your reading. It is not an attractive adjective, in my opinion.
