I try to not read books over 400 pages, but occasionally I do.

  1. Books around 400 pages are perfect but occasionally I'll read more if I like the author then its worth it. Just read one with 600!

    1. That is great you don't shy away from big books. :)

The only book I ever read that was more than 400 pages was Anna Karenina.

      Thanks for commenting, Kathryn.

  2. I lean towards books <400 because it keeps my reading life moving with forward momentum, but the new Kinsolver, Unsheltered, is high on my TBR and I am excited to jump in. Even though it is a chunker!

  3. Actually I love long books and always have. When I like a story and the characters, I just want to sink in and stay there. But now that I am attempting to read more books each month, I do stop and think first.

    1. I like your thinking about hanging onto the characters for a bit longer with a long book.

The book I am reading has marvelous characters and story line, and I don't want it to end.

  4. I use to enjoy reading long books... Now not so much. They seem to take up so much time! And if you end up not enjoying them, then you feel like it has been a complete waste of time rading them.

    1. Just the idea that it is so long and I have so many books I want to read keeps me away.

The only good thing would be you can stay with the characters longer as Judy said in her comment above. :)

      Thanks for commenting, Captivated Reader.

  5. I prefer shorter books, but thrillers with more than 400 pages are usually fast-paced...and fly by.

    1. That is very true about the thrillers.
