ABOUT VERA WONG'S UNSOLICITED ADVICE FOR MURDERERS:

Elevator pitch: Knives Out meets Kim’s Convenience in this rollicking mystery-comedy starring an inquisitive old lady living in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

Keep it on your radar: Readers quickly fell in love with Jesse Q. Sutanto and her laugh-out-loud novels Dial A for Aunties (2021) and Four Aunties and a Wedding (2022), which were full of wit, humor, and totally charming mysteries.

The buzz was immediate, with glowing reviews from The New York Times, USA Today, and Marie Claire, making Jesse Q. Sutanto a name readers across genres are familiar with.

This spring, Sutanto is back with Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers, a hilarious tale of murder written with Jesse’s trademark humor and heart and featuring the irresistible Vera Wong, a nosy Chinese mother and amateur sleuth.

The story: When Vera Wong finds a dead man in the middle of her teashop, she takes it upon herself to solve his murder

With a plethora of time on her hands she knows she can do a good job of figuring out this mystery

As Vera observes her teashop’s customers, the suspect list grows. One of them must be the killer.

But her suspects soon become her friends. Friends who fill her time and make her feel less lonely.

As this mystery starts to unfold, Vera must decide if she is willing to give her new friends up to the police, or if she will allow a killer to walk free.
