ABOUT SOPHIE GO'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB:

After three years studying matchmaking in Shanghai, Sophie Go returns to her hometown of Toronto to begin practicing her craft. But there’s a problem: she never actually graduated from matchmaking school.

With a disapproving mother who won’t support her career, and clients that hardly want to take a chance on an inexperienced, unlicensed matchmaker, Sophie’s prospects seem bleak. Until she meets the Old Ducks.

They are a group of seven septuagenarian Chinese-Canadian men who never found love, and they call themselves the Old Ducks.

Each member has his own quirks: Mr. Regret, an exquisite baker with sad eyes; the prickly Mr. Porcupine; the bespectacled Mr. Moon, and the quiet Mr. Sorrow.

Mr. Durian loves the fruit he is named after; Mr. Dolphin has a memorable laugh, and Mr. Wolf will move mountains for his cats.

With a little convincing, Sophie may have just found her first matchmaking clients.

Lim’s story, in some ways reminiscent of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, follows a charming protagonist as she embraces a found family in her warmhearted, albeit quirky, new clients who shower her with love and support.

With a touch of magic and a multitude of mouthwateringly delicious recipes, SOPHIE GO’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB will leave readers savoring Lim’s sweet storytelling.

The author’s writing is influenced by her Filipino-Chinese heritage, and her love of food inspired by her childhood cooking alongside her father.

Lim infuses her writing with ingredients that foodies and readers will love—a heaping portion of family and cultural identity, a dash of romance, and a spoonful of magic.
