A Book Case Quilt

I attended the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair in Maryland this past weekend.

Look what I found in the quilt competition.  Isn't it wonderful?

This quilt won a Blue Ribbon.

I know nothing about quilting and asked if the quilter designed or embroidered the books, and the answer was the books were material added to the quilt.

I thought everyone would enjoy seeing this.

I have no sewing or quilting talent either. I am in awe at how folks do such beautiful work.

      THANKS for stopping, Kay.

  3. This is the kind of thing that makes me want to learn how to sew - not that I could do anything like that. It's gorgeous!

  7. I love bookshelf quilts. I did one for my sister, though it's mostly jars of candy with several books here and there on the shelf. I used titles of real books that pertained to her life. http://www.heatherpearson.com/2013/05/nancys-candy-jar-shelf-quilting-gallery.html

    1. It was very large and up quite high. Being that I am short, it was difficult to get any closer. :)

It was a unique idea and very nicely done.

      Thanks for stopping, Amy.

  15. Wow, that is wonderful! I've done a bit of quilting back in the day pre-kids, but nothing this detailed. I would love to have this to hang on a wall near my bookshelves.

I would have no clue where to start nor could I do such a good job.

  19. What a lovely quilt indeed!! Thank you for sharing a photograph of it with us. I know nothing about quilting either, but am always impressed with those that take up crafting type hobbies.

I have taken up knitting and am becoming quite addicted to my new hobby... I'm always impressed with the skills and finished projects of more skilled knitters.

As a side note, my yarn stash may soon rival my book collection if I don't watch out. I've also begun a knitting blog of my knitting adventures.
