Armchair Book Expo Day #1: Introductions

Good Morning fellow Armchair BookExpo friends.

This is Elizabeth from Silver's Reviews.  I have been blogging since 2010, and have gone to the BEA in New York four times.

I just wasn't up to going this year, but am excited to participate in the Armchair BookExpo fun again this year. I enjoyed last year's Armchair BookExpo. I didn't go to Chicago last year.

I like to go to the BEA in New York because my son lives in Hoboken, New Jersey, which is right across the Hudson from the Javits and I get to visit him and also have fun at the BEA.  :)

My favorite genres to read are historical fiction, mystery, and women's fiction.  I have been reading some amazing women's fiction this year.  Please check them out in the archives if you like.

My least favorite genre and one that I don't read is sci-fi or fantasy.

I hope I can get to visit everyone's blog and participate at least a little.  I am out of town.

Here's to a fun, eventful Armchair BookExpo and to making new blogging friends.

Have a wonderful week!!

  3. That's so awesome that you've been able to attend the live expo!! What was it like?

  4. It was overwhelming the first time, but the other times were fantastic. You get to meet the publishers you talk to all the time, and the excitement just oozes everywhere.

So many book lovers and so many bloggers to meet. Meeting other bloggers was the best part.

    Meeting authors was also awesome.

    Thanks for stopping, Erica.

  5. Hello. This is my fourth Armchair Book Expo. I am historical romance novelist. How amazing it was that you were able to attend the live conference. One of my goals is to attend the Book Expo as a participating author.

  7. I've never been to BEA. It's always just too far for me to justify going for what's essentially a hobby for me.

  9. Hi Elizabeth!! I've never gone to BEA I've only heard about it. I live in NJ but as close as I am to NYC it's still pretty far, so I'd thought doing the Armchair version would be better. I read a little fantasy-romance but I don't normally read sci-fi. I just can't get into it like that.

  10. Happy Armchair Book Expo! I used to live about 90 miles north of Manhattan and I went to Book Expo twice, but now that I live in Maryland and have little kids, it's not as easy to make the trip. Plus, I think I'm better at networking online.

  17. Sorry you weren't able to make BEA this year, but at least you have a place to stay next time! I think that the only reason I was able to go was because I lived across the river in NJ and could take the ferry across.

  18. Even though last year in Chicago it was kind of closer to me, and should have been cheaper, when it is in New York, my sister lives in Manhattan, so it is a free place to stay when I go. Especially since she moved just a few blocks away from the Javits center. Thanks for stopping by my Intro post on Lisa Loves Literature earlier.

  24. I know you don't read scifi, but I just watched the amazing movie Arrival. It's a very clever perspective on how a language influences your culture. I'm extremely convinced of that, but the movie pushed the idea to the limit: the heroine learns how to communicate with the aliens, and from then on, her perspective of time changes. It's actually based on a short story by Ted Chiang, called Story of Your Life, and I just read it. It was fascinating, and awesome to see what they did from the story
