1. What is your favorite genre and why?
My favorite genre is historical fiction. It is my favorite because I always learn something that I never knew before.

I am most excited about the first day...I love meeting other bloggers.
I am also excited about Thursday's Book Cover topic - I LOVE covers.
And Friday's Beyond The Blog topic sounds awesome.

3. How do you arrange your bookshelves? Is there a rhyme or reason? Or not at all? (#ABEAShelfie)
I have my shelves arranged in the order of completed books.
I have my shelves arranged in the order of completed books.
I like to keep the books according to the date I read them just because. :)
The books waiting to be read are arranged by size. :)
I also have a separate shelf of books that are waiting to be read for publishers. :)
Really no rhyme or reason except I like to be organized and know when I read the book.

4. What book are you most excited for on your TBR? What are you most intimidated by?
I am excited about Radio Girls by Sarah-Jane Stratford.
I was super excited about A Certain Age by Beatriz Williams and just finished it this evening, but it turned out to not be a favorite until the end. :) Love all of her other books, though.
I don't feel intimidated by any books. I love every book I choose to read. :)
I read a book that came to me as a surprise and absolutely LOVED it. It was The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper. A sweet read. There is a giveaway for the book that ends today if you want to enter.
A book I just finished was a terrific read, and I think it is going to be the book of the summer...just my opinion. That book is I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh.

Thank you to THE TEAM for putting all your efforts into making ARMCHAIR BEA fun and possible for us.
Looking forward to participating!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun and for stopping by.
Beatriz Williams seems to be a book producing machine!! I loved A Hundred Summers, but wasn't as keen on Along the Infinite Sea, so might wait and see on this one.
ReplyDeleteA Certain Age was not a favorite until the very end. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Sarah.
I have Radio Girls loaded on my eReader right now. That does sound like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of shelving your books based on when you finished them. It turns your bookshelf into a reading history. I love it!
Were you not able to attend BEA this year because of the location? Is it weird not being there this year? I've only gone once myself.
I like everything by dates. :)
DeleteI didn't want to go to Chicago. My son lives in NYC and that makes it much easier and cheaper. :)
I have gone to the BEA every year since 2012. Missing it, but this will be fun too.
Thanks for stopping, Jennifer.
Good pick for the book of the summer. I've been seeing a lot of buzz for I Let You Go. The other one is The Girls, but I'm not sure if that will have a wide enough appeal.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to read I LET YOU GO.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Rachel.
Hi Elizabeth! Welcome to Armchair BEA. I've never been to actual BEA so this is all I know :)
ReplyDeleteJulie @ Chapter Break
Thanks, Julie.
DeleteThe BEA is so much fun. The ABEA is fun too. I am looking forward to this week.
Thanks for stopping, Julie.
First of all, I love your header! I live in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, another colourful wee town. :D Looking forward to reading your posts over ABEA - BEA's loss is our gain! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Roda.
DeleteI don't know where The Isle of Mull is.
How sweet of you to say that about the BEA's loss.
Thanks for stopping, Rhoda.
I just saw this. So glad you emailed me, now you know where Mull is :D
DeleteI do know, and it is a cute town.
DeleteLove the harbor photo.
Hi - I haven't been to a BEA. I wanted to go this year, but am a bit intimidated by going to Chicago. Not sure I'll be able to go next year either with it being in New York. If I manage to get a buddy to go with me, I'll reconsider. :)

I didn't want to go to Chicago either especially since my son lives in New York and I get free lodging. :)
DeleteNot sure if I am going next year, but if you go, we can definitely meet up.
Thanks for stopping, Diane.
When you say your TBR is organized by size, do you mean height or thickness?
ReplyDeleteBy height...I like uniformity. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Gabriella.
I'm excited about tomorrow's subject too. It sounds so fun - especially since I LOVE book cover art. (Which reminds me, I'd best get that post written! Ooops!)
ReplyDeleteGreat to meet you, Elizabeth.
Where is the question we are to answer about the covers?
DeleteThanks for stopping, Rissi. Nice to meet you too.
Wow! Congrats on six years of blogging! That takes quite a bit of commitment!
ReplyDeleteI came close to going to BEA this year, seeing as it was only about eight hours from here I live, but when I found out Cassie Clare would only be there for an hour and you needed a freakin' wrist band to even see her, I decided it wasn't worth it. All the other authors I wanted to see had visited me hometown before, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they come back (and maybe even Clare.)

I have loved every minute of the six years. Meeting other bloggers was and still is the best.
DeleteI hope to go again next year when it is back in New York. I went every since 2012. It is fun, but very tiring.
Thanks for stopping, Brittany.
Hi Elizabeth! I enjoyed your interview answers. I love how you organize your books! Have you read Thieving Forest by Martha Conway? It's historical fiction. I enjoyed it. Martha's new book Sugarland will be released tomorrow. It looks good, too! Best, Gail
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of those books, Gail. Thanks for mentioning them.
DeleteThat organization is the easiest for me.
Thanks for stopping, Gail.
I never thought of organizing books in that chronological fashion - it's so interesting how differently everyone's minds work! I entered that giveaway for The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper - I'm glad to know you liked it so much. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI loved Arthur Pepper. He was a sweet, adorable character.
DeleteI agree about how many different ways folks organize their books. :)
Thanks for stopping, Lory.
So cool how you arrange your books. Man, I organize by nonfiction/fiction and then by size.
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to have gone to BEA for the past four years. I'd be in heaven.
I need to look up some of your book recommendations.
Oh yes...the BEA is such fun.
DeleteIt helps that my son lives in New York and I can stay with him and get in a visit too. :)
Good on how you organize your books. We all like different ways.
I hope you find a few books you like.
Thanks for stopping, Heidi.
I enjoyed reading your interview answers, Elizabeth. "Arthur Pepper" is on my wish list because of your review!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear my review helped you decide. I know you will love the book. It is your kind of book. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Mary.
I'm so jealous, I would love to go to BEA. I'll probably never see myself there, but I can always dream :)
ReplyDeleteYou might get there. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Beyond Opinions.
Wow, six years! I have never been to the real BEA, but I have heard great things! :) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes...six years and loving ever minute of it.
DeleteThanks for stopping, He Said Books Or Me.
Thanks for stopping by. I don't think I could keep my books shelved by when read, they would become a mess very quickly.
ReplyDeleteI just put them on the shelf left to right with each new one going on the farthest right. :)
DeleteThanks for stopping, Kristina.
I can't wait to talk covers as well. I love me a good cover and sometimes have to stop myself from buying a book based on the cover alone. Hope you enjoy this year's ABEA!
ReplyDeleteCovers are my downfall. :)
DeleteI love my covers.
Thanks for stopping, Alicia.
I'm also usually at BEA in person, but just couldn't swing it this year. But Armchair BEA is also a lot of fun, and a great chance to interact with the community!
ReplyDeleteI just didn't want to go to Chicago.
DeleteI am having fun with the BEA Armchair. The organizers are doing a marvelous job.
Thanks for stopping, Grace.
The diversity in the length of time people have been blogging kind of amazes me. I'm not sure why, exactly... six years still sounds like a lot to me!
ReplyDeleteThere definitely are so many different number of years of blogging. I think the highest I saw today was nine years.
DeleteThanks for stopping, Kelly.
The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper is on my TBR :)
ReplyDeleteHave you read Sovay by Celia Rees? It's historical fiction about a girl who becomes a highwayman. It's good. :)
No, I haven't read that book.
DeleteI will take a look at it.
Thanks for stopping, Melanie.
I love historical fiction. I have really been neglecting it. I must get back on track!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do.
DeleteI really enjoy learning new things. Funny, though, that I didn't like history when I was in school. :)
Thanks for stopping, Kailana.
