ARMCHAIR BEA

http://www.armchairbea.com/

I can't make it to Chicago this year, and am going to try the ARMCHAIR BEA.

Looking forward to participating.

1.  What is the name you prefer to use?

Elizabeth

2.  How long have you been a book blogger?

I have been blogging since 2010 so it will be 6 years in July.
**********
3.  Have you participated in ABEA before?

No I have not participated before.  I usually am at the BEA.
**********
1.  What is your favorite genre and why?

My favorite genre is historical fiction.  It is my favorite because I always learn something that I never knew before.
**********
2.  Which day of ABEA are you looking forward to the most?

I am most excited about the first day...I love meeting other bloggers.

I am also excited about Thursday's Book Cover topic - I LOVE covers.

And Friday's Beyond The Blog topic sounds awesome.

3.  How do you arrange your bookshelves? Is there a rhyme or reason? Or not at all? (#ABEAShelfie)

I have my shelves arranged in the order of completed books.

I like to keep the books according to the date I read them just because.  :)

The books waiting to be read are arranged by size.  :)

I also have a separate shelf of books that are waiting to be read for publishers.  :)

Really no rhyme or reason except I like to be organized and know when I read the book.
**********
4.  What book are you most excited for on your TBR? What are you most intimidated by?

I am excited about Radio Girls by Sarah-Jane Stratford.

I was super excited about A Certain Age by Beatriz Williams and just finished it this evening, but it turned out to not be a favorite until the end.  :)  Love all of her other books, though.

I don't feel intimidated by any books.  I love every book I choose to read.  :)

I read a book that came to me as a surprise and absolutely LOVED it.  It was The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper.  A sweet read.  There is a giveaway for the book that ends today if you want to enter.

A book I just finished was a terrific read, and I think it is going to be the book of the summer...just my opinion.  That book is I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh.

Thank you to THE TEAM for putting all your efforts into making ARMCHAIR BEA fun and possible for us.

  2. Beatriz Williams seems to be a book producing machine!! I loved A Hundred Summers, but wasn't as keen on Along the Infinite Sea, so might wait and see on this one.

  3. I have Radio Girls loaded on my eReader right now. That does sound like a lot of fun.

I love the idea of shelving your books based on when you finished them. It turns your bookshelf into a reading history. I love it!

Were you not able to attend BEA this year because of the location? Is it weird not being there this year? I've only gone once myself.

    1. I like everything by dates. :)

I didn't want to go to Chicago. My son lives in NYC and that makes it much easier and cheaper. :)

I have gone to the BEA every year since 2012. Missing it, but this will be fun too.

      Thanks for stopping, Jennifer.

  4. Good pick for the book of the summer. I've been seeing a lot of buzz for I Let You Go. The other one is The Girls, but I'm not sure if that will have a wide enough appeal.

  6. First of all, I love your header! I live in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, another colourful wee town. :D Looking forward to reading your posts over ABEA - BEA's loss is our gain! :D

    1. Thanks, Roda.

I don't know where The Isle of Mull is.

How sweet of you to say that about the BEA's loss.

      Thanks for stopping, Rhoda.

  7. Hi - I haven't been to a BEA. I wanted to go this year, but am a bit intimidated by going to Chicago. Not sure I'll be able to go next year either with it being in New York. If I manage to get a buddy to go with me, I'll reconsider. :)

    1. I didn't want to go to Chicago either especially since my son lives in New York and I get free lodging. :)

Not sure if I am going next year, but if you go, we can definitely meet up.

      Thanks for stopping, Diane.

  8. When you say your TBR is organized by size, do you mean height or thickness?

    1. By height...I like uniformity. :)

  9. I'm excited about tomorrow's subject too. It sounds so fun - especially since I LOVE book cover art. (Which reminds me, I'd best get that post written! Ooops!)

    Great to meet you, Elizabeth.

  10. Wow! Congrats on six years of blogging! That takes quite a bit of commitment!

I came close to going to BEA this year, seeing as it was only about eight hours from here I live, but when I found out Cassie Clare would only be there for an hour and you needed a freakin' wrist band to even see her, I decided it wasn't worth it. All the other authors I wanted to see had visited me hometown before, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they come back (and maybe even Clare.)

    1. I have loved every minute of the six years. Meeting other bloggers was and still is the best.

I hope to go again next year when it is back in New York. I went every since 2012. It is fun, but very tiring.

      Thanks for stopping, Brittany.

  11. Hi Elizabeth! I enjoyed your interview answers. I love how you organize your books! Have you read Thieving Forest by Martha Conway? It's historical fiction. I enjoyed it. Martha's new book Sugarland will be released tomorrow. It looks good, too! Best, Gail

That organization is the easiest for me.

  12. I never thought of organizing books in that chronological fashion - it's so interesting how differently everyone's minds work! I entered that giveaway for The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper - I'm glad to know you liked it so much. Have a great week!

  13. So cool how you arrange your books. Man, I organize by nonfiction/fiction and then by size.

You are so lucky to have gone to BEA for the past four years. I'd be in heaven.

I need to look up some of your book recommendations.

    1. Oh yes...the BEA is such fun.

It helps that my son lives in New York and I can stay with him and get in a visit too. :)

Good on how you organize your books. We all like different ways.

I hope you find a few books you like.

      Thanks for stopping, Heidi.
