I haven't read any of Swan's books but I read a different author's version of this true story (The Velvet Hours). This weekend I'm listening to The Summer's End by Mary Alice Monroe.
Wow, I didn't know there was another apartment like that. Now I'm thinking there are probably more. But the art angle is what hooks me. Thanks for explaining!
I haven't read any of Swan's books. This one looks enticing, though. I just finished reading The Noise of Time by Julian Barnes. It's biography (of Shostakovich) written as fiction and is heartrending. It gives you life under the various leaders of the USSR and how frightening it was to make the smallest error. When I put the book down, I felt I had lived there myself. Brilliant writing. Now I'm reading something lighter: Memoirs from Mrs. Hudson's Kitchen (Mrs. Hudson being Sherlock Holmes's landlady). Great details of London during the Victorian Era.
Happy Reading!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping.
The Paris Secret looks like one I need to read!
ReplyDeleteIt is really good.
DeleteIt is about an empty apartment that is filled with art work, and the art work has a secret behind it.

I read The Velvet Hours and A Paris Apartment. Both about the apartment of Marte de Florian.
DeleteI thought this was going to be the same apartment, but it is a different apartment and the issue is paintings stolen during WWII.
Summer's End sounds good.
