PRAISE FOR A THOUSAND CUTS:
“Gregory Poirier is a master storyteller and in Max Starkey he has created a badass whose international escapades I’d be happy to read for the rest of my life.”—LeVar Burton
"A Thousand Cuts is a blood-and-guts spy novel that reads like a Hollywood blockbuster. The plot's tighter than an angsty Swiss clockwork: cordite psalms, proverbs of lead, heroes you love, villains you hate, and plenty of folks who might just be both at the same time. All the while, the shine of ill-gotten gold gleams with the shadowed promise of a world-class backstab. The whole thing rips forward with the frenetic pace of an out-of-control bullet train, but Poirier's masterful touch somehow keeps it on the tracks. Grabs you like a bear trap to the face from page one and refuses to let go, no matter how hard you beg. I can't wait to read what's next for Max Starkey."
–Jeremy D. Baker, author of The Guilty Sleep
"Crackling cinematic prose. . . . Poirier strikes gold with this superbly crafted . . . action-packed, character-driven thrill ride!”
—Andrew W. Marlowe, screenwriter of Air Force One, ABC’s Castle, and CBS’s The Equalizer

ABOUT A THOUSAND CUTS:
Seven years after a CIA mission in Laos went sideways, Max lives in the gray spaces between criminals and justice, recovering stolen goods for villains who don’t ask questions. But when he’s lured to Bangkok under false pretenses, his past catches up with him.
The setup: an old flame, Kelly Riggs, now married to his CIA rival.
The job: steal $130 million in dictator-owned gold before a coup ignites.
The problem : everyone plans a double-cross—and Max is the mark. Then there’s Giuliana Abara, Max’s sharp-tongued “companion,” an undercover FBI agent with secrets of her own, who further proves that trust kills and redemption demands blood in this high-octane debut thriller—spanning the streets of Bangkok to the Laotian rainforest— by screenwriter Gregory Poirier.
