Saturday Snapshot - 1/12/13

Saturday Snapshot

I have two photos today.  They don't have any connection, but I thought everyone would enjoy them.

The first photo was taken last night from inside the car as we were enjoying an unusually warm January day that was melting the snow along with 100% humidity.

One part of our street was very foggy.....it almost looks like the streets of London way back when.  :)

Any thoughts on what you think the foggy street looks like?

The second photo was taken when I was in New York last year in early October.

The weather was beautiful, and I luckily captured the skyline with a double rainbow.  :)

It isn't the best skyline of New York, but a skyline nonetheless.

  1. Going to be 60 degrees today ....more melting snow. :)

Very unusual for January in Pittsburgh.

  2. Those are great photos, especially the one with the rainbow. I'm hoping for a snowless winter this year.

  3. Great photos. Fog always makes of London too. And I actually remember that rainbow since a rainbow has become such a rare sight in NYC now. We had them all the time when I was a kid and I miss them. Thanks for posting these.

  4. Too cool, Alex, that you saw those rainbows too.

    Thanks for stopping.

  5. We're having a complete melt here today as well... sun and wind and rain all day yesterday mean the little snow we did have is nearly gone! Very strange for a Canadian January...

I love the second picture. So lucky to have captured that image!

  6. Isn't fog a spooky phenomenon? It's very foggy here today ... love the rainbow over Manhattan! You must have been in lower Brooklyn?

  7. I was in Hoboken down by the water of course. Not sure how far up the River.

  8. Foggy here, too. Wet and rainy. Can make one feel a little gray. The double rainbow helps.

Here’s my Saturday Snapshot. I'd love to have you stop by.

  9. You were fortunate to capture that double rainbow on film - they don't always come out in pictures.

  10. They are both excellent photos. I do love the fog. Can you remind me where your header photo is from.

  11. Not one but two rainbows! How lovely and very serendipitous for you!

  12. We get fog almost daily here in the morning during the fall. Love your rainbow shot!

  13. I like the foggy street. We don't get fog often in Montreal but when we do I love the look it gives. I always have.

  14. Hi Debbie:

    Thanks for stopping.

My header was taken in Portree, Scotland. Adorable place.

  15. I always think gog softens the edges of the world and gives a fairy tale quality. Had a couple of bitterly cold days here, that started foggy, but no snow yet - though it is forecast. Your picture of metling snow is very atmospheric.

  16. We have 50 degrees here in Ontario today. Wore a spring jacket to go shopping.
I haven't been to New York myself, but it's a good rainbow.

  18. Nice photos. I do like the fog effect and double rainbows are always special. I was just getting used to the 40-60 degree days now this week we have 60-75. Dressing in layers works best. :-)
    Thanks for sharing.

  19. Well the first photo made me think of a showdown in the old west, which doesn't exactly make sense, but that's what came to mind first. (The fog reminiscent of the dusty streets. Or maybe the fact that I watched an old west themed episode of Doctor Who this morning.)

    Lovely skyline with rainbow!

  20. Foggy day photos remind me of eerie and mysterious movies or books.

And I always enjoy a rainbow!

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  21. Great pictures! Fog is always ominous to me for some reason. Must be all those horror movies I watched growing up! *L*

    Love the double rainbow picture!

  22. We're having the same warm weather in Chicago, was in the 50s today. But no fog since we haven't had any snow. Cool rainbow, especially when it's a double!

  23. The fog pic: looks like the Mist is coming to get you!

Great shot of the rainbows, too.

  24. I think your New York skyline shot is a great shot... it's much better than my non-existant one :) And I do love that fog shot, it reminds me of that mist moving where the mist comes rolling in... Book Savvy Babe

  27. Love both photos -- especially the rainbow. It's been super foggy here in the morning lately as it's been warmer and all the snow is melting.
