Set in both the United Kingdom where Jane grew up and New England, her adopted home, THE FRIENDS WE KEEP
(Berkley Hardcover; On Sale June 4, 2019) opens with a trio of unlikely friends
who meet at university.
Evvie, a former child actress from the United
States, is lonely and out of place when she meets Maggie, a girl who
shares her sense of humor. Together
they meet Topher, an outsider struggling with his sexual identity.
They bond immediately, and vow to be friends forever.
Evvie,
Maggie, and Topher have known each other since university. Their
friendship was something they swore would last forever. Now years have
passed, the friends
have drifted apart, and none of them ever found the lives they wanted -
the lives they dreamed of when they were young and everything seemed
possible.
Evvie starved herself to become a supermodel but derailed her career by sleeping with a married man.
Maggie married Ben, the boy she fell in love with at university, never imagining the heartbreak his drinking would cause.
Topher became a successful actor but the shame of a childhood secret shut him off from real intimacy.
By their thirtieth reunion, these old friends have lost touch with each other and with the people they dreamed of becoming. Together again, they have a second chance at happiness... until a dark secret is revealed that changes everything.
The Friends We Keep is about how despite disappointments we've had or mistakes we've made, it's never too late to find a place to call home.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Lori, for the positive comment about this book.
DeleteA wonderful thing for all the folks entering the giveaway to hear.
Thanks for commenting.
Hi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I have never really checked out Jane's impressive portfolio of books published, obviously assuming the storylines weren't quite as in-depth and relevant as they are on closer inspection.
It is no wonder that she is such a popular author, with her books very much in demand in the shop where I work. Definitely to be added to my list of authors to follow!
It is only a shame that the most sought after Giveaways are only available in the US, including those sponsored by Goodreads. I am beginning to doubt that we shall ever see the likes of those again, here in the UK. A shame, as I was always quite lucky!!
PS. I just noticed that you have already tallied up 34 books read so far this year. That's amazing, WELL DONE YOU :)
Yvonne xx
She does write good books. I am glad you found her.
DeleteSorry about the giveaways.
And...THANK YOU about my 34 books. :)
Lots of time available since I am retired. :)
THANK YOU for commenting, Yvonne.
